Hello beauties, today I wanted to share with you some black owned makeup brands you may not have heard of or you may have come across before. Some of these brands I have tried out but others I haven’t but as you all know I love trying out new products from different brands.
Make sure you check out some of my other post like May’s beauty haul and my girls trip vacation.
MFMG – Makeup for Melanin Girls

What started out as an Instagram page dedicated to makeup for melanin girls turned into a community celebrating makeup diversity. It all started when founder, Tomi Gbelyei, was at a modeling gig and the makeup artist was looking through their case for a shade tomato her skin. From there Toni began watching tutorials from beauty vloggers of color. MFMG has become a place for women of color interested in celebrating beauty diversity.
The Lip Bar

If any of you watch the show “Shark Tank”, then you may have heard of Melissa Butler. She appeared on the show to pitch her brand idea but was rejected. She turned her rejection into success by not letting someone else determine her the success of her dream. The Lip Bar is a vegan and cruelty free brand that changes the way you think about beauty. Melissa started out making lipsticks in her kitchen because she believed, “beauty shouldn’t compromise health and because I was determined to change the way people thought about beauty.” – Melissa Butler, The Lip Bar founder
Juvia’s Place

Created by Chichi Eburu, Juvias Place has instantly become a popular brand. The brand is inspired by Chichi’s African culture such as the food, artwork, clothing, and festivals. She even takes the extra step to test out colors on her skin as well as darker skin tones to be sure it’s perfect for Juiva’s Place. A goal of Juvia’s Place is to make a products women of color can wear comfortably and feel beautiful.
Uoma Cosmetics

Uoma, which means beautiful, Cosmetics is a beauty brand for all skin tones. It’s founder, Sharon Chuter, created a brand that is forward thinking, radical and uncompromising. Born in Nigeria she draws inspiration from her heritage and mixes it with modern to create a fierce aesthetic.
LAMIK Beauty

LAMIK is a natural, organic and vegan line for women of color. The name “LAMIK“, stands for Love and Makup in Kindness. Founded by Kim Roxie, she set out to create a brand that is natural, safe and for women of color. She first started out in a small building and just last year she started LAMIK online after winning a business competition.
Blac Minerals

A clean green brand that was founded by Merced S. Boyce. She created diverse and inclusive products that are free of toxins and additives commonly found in most cosmetic products. Blac Minerals’ products are designed to compliment the skin without overpowering and it’s perfect the everyday woman.
These are just a few black owned beauty brands. So far I have tried products from one of these brands, but I would love to try all of them out one day. If you’d like for me to post more black owned beauty brands let me know down in the comments.
