Happy Wednesday everyone, we have made it to the middle of the week only two more days until the weekend. I recently purchased the Kylie x Balmain collection bundle. I purchased this collection, one because I love Olivier Rousteing’s designs and two I haven’t tried any products from Kylie Cosmetics in a while. I’m a huge fan of his designs that he created for the On the Run II tour with Beyoncé and JAYZ. At first look this collection gives me Spring time, cotton candy, pastel vibes. I noticed from the promotional photos for the collaboration that Kylie’s dresses are similar to a dress Beyoncé wore back in February when she skipped the Grammy’s. Not sure where the idea for the collection came from but if it’s based on the Spring 2020 collection, I did see some pink designs in the collection and the models were also wearing the Kylie x Balmain collection during the show.
The packaging gives me a whimsical/flirty vibe with silver writing as an accent color. The collection includes a 9-pan eyeshadow palette, lipgloss, and a lip kit which includes a lip pencil and liquid lipstick. Overall the collection is very eye catching. The formula of the lipgloss is not sticky at all which is something I like when using a lipgloss. The applicator also makes it easy to apply multiple layers. The lip kit is like her other lip kits, the only difference I found is that she has changed the formula. Compared to her other liquid lipsticks this one more moisturizing. When using the other liquid lipstick from her brand previously, I’ve had to apply a moisturizer before applying the lipstick to keep my lips hydrated throughout the day.
If you noticed from the promotional photos Kylie’s belt is a small replica of the eyeshadow palette, which I think is very cute. The eyshadows that are my favorite are model type, city of love, catwalk, and pfw. Model type will be a perfect glitter shade to use for the upcoming holidays along with pfw. The formula of the shadows smooth and buttery and the shimmer shades apply best with a finger, but if you choose to use a brush I would spray a little setting spray on it before applying the shadows.
This is the first time in a while since I’ve purchased from Kylie Cosmetics and I do like how she has improved her liquid lipstick formula. It’s also my first time trying out one of her glosses since she has added it to her brand. Overall I would rate this collection a 6.5 out of 10, only because I believe the collection could have included a highlighter and another lip kit shade, like a purple.
