As promised, I’m letting you all see what products and other remedies I use for clear skin. For me in particular my skin type is normal to dry. For those of you who don’t know, it just means my skin goes thorough dryness and then it’s back to normal (slightly oily but not overly oily). I mostly experience my dry spells around the winter months and to some people they tell me my skin looks great during these months but for me it’s as if my skin feel wrinkly and like its going to crack. The rest of the year my skin is pretty normal granted the summer’s in the South can make me a tad bit oily.
Now my skin was not always clear and blemish free. Just like everyone who went through puberty it got me too. I remember always having at least one or two acne bumps that would pop up here or there when they felt like it. It wasn’t until I graduated high school and started college that my skin took a turn for the better. I could say it’s because I stopped drinking sodas (I did this cold turkey and just did not buy any sodas to have in my dorm, but my roommate always had a case of Coke). Instead of sodas I drunk more juice and water. Later on in my college career I began to only drink water and that’s when I realized, that I needed to drink juice and soda occasionally.
Enough of the back story you guys came here to get the details on what products I use. My main go to skincare cleanser is the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser or Tatcha Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser. I prefer to use Cetaphil in the morning because its more gentle than the exfoliating cleanser. The Tatcha cleanser is more of my nighttime cleanser, since it can get deep into the skin ,and get it nice and clean from all the makeup and sweat from the day.
After the cleanser I reach for my toner and depending on how my skin feels after cleansing, I’ll get my hydration toner or skip this step and go striaght to moisturizer. The Fresh Rose Deep Hydration toner works great for me all year long. My other toner by Olenhenriksen is the Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner. This toner is great for any dark spots or discoloration. I use this at night so it can work it’s magic without the all the environmental factors of the day.
Moisturizers! I have a couple that I’ve tested and tried but only two really stand out. To go along with the Tatcha Exfoliating Cleanser there’s the Tatcha Dewy Skin cream. This stuff is makes my skin feel silky smooth each time I use it. I do pair it with the cleanser at night but it also works good with the Cetaphil cleanser too. In addition to my Tatcha moisturizer, I also use the Olenhenriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer. With this moisturizer it’s light enough for me to wear on even the hottest day in Georgia without making me sweaty.
Just because my skin is clear on a regular basis does not mean I don’t get breakouts here and there. One product in particular that aids in keeping the breakouts at bay once they appear, is my Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Gel. For me this products works on contact. Depending on the breakout I may have to use once every three to five days but usually one day and the breakout is gone! Even though I use all of these products to keep my skin clear the biggest contributor is, water. It keeps me hydrated and its nice and refreshing on a hot Spring day.
Until next remember to stay hydrated and don’t forget to keep your skin clean and healthy.
