Happy Monday beauties! I can’t believe it’s 2020, the start of a new decade. Today I’m bringing you my top 10 products that I’ve been loving from 2019 and will continue to use throughout the new year. Along with the products that I didn’t like as much. I’ve tried a lot of beauty products last year so let’s jump right into it.
Check out my last post from 2019 here!
Makeup
Out of all the new makeup products I brought last year I would have to say these few I still use up to this day and will continue to use. I’ve never been a fan of bronzer but Fenty Beauty changed that for me last year. It’s like the bronzer just melts into my skin and gives me just the right amount of color after applying foundation. Another newbie added to the collection is my Becca hydrating setting powder. This powder has the perfect amount of hydration when setting my liquid prodcuts. You can read my review on this product here. I only purchased two foundations last year the FENTY Beauty hydrating pro filt’r and the NARS Natual Radiant Longwear Foundation. Just like my M.A.C. Studio Fix foundation, the NARS Radiant foundation blends into my skin seamlessly. On top of blending in it also covers any imperfections that I without using concealer and I love that in a foundation.
Ditching
- Benefit Brow Contour
- Great product for an all-in-one eyebrow pencil but not one my favorites. The precisely my brow will always be my favorite.
- No Pore Blemish Prime Essence
- My pores still showed through this primer once foundation was applied.
- MILK Makeup Blur Stick
- Blurred some areas of my face perfectly but the areas I didn’t want to show appeared anyway.
Skincare
On to skincare! I thought I tried more products last year but I think I just stopped using the ones that no longer worked for me. But there are a few that are keepers from last year. I tried out the Drunk Elephant minis last year and I must say this brand has become a favorite of mines. To see which products I like best click here. fresh hydration toner Another new product that I tried last year was the Dr. Brandt Sleep Recovery Mask. This was one of my Boxy Charm items from September and I’ve been using it at night since then. Now that we have entered into the colder months, my skin becomes irritated when it gets to dry, but using this mask helps soothes that irritation at night. Last but not least my holy grail for the winter, the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration toner. Before using the sleep mask I’m sure to apply this toner specifically for an extra boost of hydration at night. In the mornings I use it before apply my face oil and moisturizer, because the weather in the mornings can be chilly here in Georgia.
Ditching
- Cetaphil Cleanser
- Earlier last year this product worked amazing with my skin but after a few months it felt like it was stripping my skin too much.
- Neutrogena Acne Wash
- My skin is not acne prone so I don’t have a use for this product
- Olehenriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer.
- Same goes for this product at first it worked but later it didn’t mainly because it was a lightweight moisturizer.
Hair
As for my hair, I try not to change products too much because hair can be picky at times. My favorite shampoo would have to be Camille Rose Naturals Sweet Ginger shampoo. When I go weeks without washing my hair, I can use this shampoo to get my scalp and hair nice and clean without stripping it. After washing my hair the first product I reach for is the As I Am Detangling Leave-In Conditioner. Just like the product says “detangling”, it get all those little tangles out that I miss while detangling with my normal conditioner. I also leave it in when styling my hair in my twist. To get my style to hold I use the Camielle Rose Natural Curl Maker. This product is like a gel, only it doesn’t leave my hair hard and crunchy when it dries. However, if I want to style my hair for a wash and go or twist, it’s my go to styler. One extra product that I couldn’t leave out is the Devacurl Wash Day Wonder. Just like everyone my hair tangles and sometimes I need a little extra help before washing, and this product gives my hair so much slip it’s ridiculous. I’m actually going to buy the full sized product this year since I use it prior to washing my hair on every wash day.
Ditching
- Carols Daughter Hair Milk
- Leaves my hair dry and flaky. This is the only line from Carols Daughter I’ve tried, so maybe I’ll give their products another try.
- Mixed Chicks Redeining Mousse
- Not the best product for my hair type because my curls become crunchy once it dries after use.
- OGX – Coconut Curls Shampoo and Styler
- Although this shampoo is for curls and coils it doesn’t do much for hair. While the styler leaves my hair flaky with residue once it’s dried.
